Unix-Mknod - Perl interface to mknod(2) System Call

Unix-Mknod is used in psgconf, hence we needed a portable version of the mknod Perl Library. The other versions, Sys::Mknod and Mknod both have issues with running on the following platforms (on which Unix::Mknod was tested):

AIX 4.3.3, 5.1
FreeBSD 4, 5, 6
Mac OS X 10.3.9
Fedora Core 4
RedHat Linux EL 4
Solaris 8, 9, 10 (both Sparc and x86).

The current version of Unix-Mknod is Unix-Mknod-0.03 and source can be found at:
ftp://ftp-dev.cites.uiuc.edu/pub/Unix-Mknod/Unix-Mknod-0.03.tar.gz

Unix-Mknod is currently packaged in the following formats:

  • Encap
  • SVR4 (Sparc, i386), look for UIUCUnix-Mknod*.
  • RPMs (use rhn.cites.uiuc.edu as your RHN proxy server, and join the ev-3-test, ev-3-test-x86_64, or ev-3-test-rhel3 channels).
  • FreeBSD (i386. UIUCnet hosts can grab the most up to date version here).
  • Debian. Not a site associated with UIUC.

Unix::Mknod was originally named Sys::Mknod2, but to have it accepted as a registered perl module, it was renamed it to the Unix:: space.

This package is provided on an as-is basis and is not officially supported by CITES. Comments/questions about this package can be sent to cites-smg@uiuc.edu.
